About Us
AKA Media is the creative studio of James Kenning — a Swansea-based videographer, photographer and content creator with over 20 years in the media industry.
What began as a passion for filming skateboarding has grown into a full-service media business. Today, AKA Media helps businesses, brands, and individuals bring their ideas to life through engaging visual storytelling.
Meet James
James’ journey started with a love for skateboarding and filming. That creative spark led him to study photography and videography at Birmingham City University. He later joined Bristol’s Route One as part of their photography team, creating visual content for top skate and streetwear brands.
He then spent four years at Shiner Distribution, working on advertising campaigns and social media content for global names like Santa Cruz Skateboards, Spitfire Wheels, and Real Skateboards. This included filming pro skaters across the UK and Europe — from Sweden to Spain.
In 2019, James returned to Swansea to launch AKA Media, offering high-quality, independent creative services for clients of all sizes.
